Music For Life

This early years music program for infants and toddlers aged 0-2 years encourages the one-on-one participation of child and caregiver with songs, chants, movement and instruments in a fun interactive environment. This class is designed to help you connect with your baby and support their development and growth through music and movement. *If you’d like to try it out and see what it’s like, the first class will be offered free of charge.

Basic Bookbinding

Learn the basics of pamphlet binding, coptic binding, and Japanese stab binding as well as techniques to affix hardcovers and spines to your books and add attractive embellishments. Discover the joy of handmade books!

Introduction to Quilting

Spend a day learning the basic skills involved in constructing a quilt. If you have any experience sewing, you too can learn to make these beautiful and practical works of art.

After School Art

Budding artists aged 6–10 will be introduced to various art techniques such as painting, watercolour, drawing, and sculpting. Through learning how to use these various mediums, children will develop a solid foundation to go forward and produce whatever they can imagine! All materials are provided.

Creative Writing Club

Creativity comes in many forms! In this class, children aged 7–11 will learn to express themselves in stories and poems of all different kinds. At the end of the course the participants will put together a class book to share with family and friends.

Art Night Out!

Get together with five friends and have an art party! A good time for birthdays, staff parties, ladies’ night out, or just because!

Available courses include:

If you’d like to learn something that you don’t see listed here, just let us know. You pick the project and get your group together, and we’ll take care of the rest. Prices range from $20 to $50 per person, depending on activity, materials required, and whether or not there will be wine involved.

Fall 2015 Visual, Material and Literary Arts Classes

Art From the Garden

Nature provides us with some of the first and most vivid imagery we try to capture in art. In this course you will explore the shape, colour and texture of flora, and interpret them using media and techniques such as watercolour, coloured pencils, collage and acrylic inks. From the realistic to the abstract, from the actual to the imaginary, gardens inspire the artist in each of us. Students should have their own basic art supplies. Other items can be purchased from the instructor.

Creative Journalling

Express yourself in a creative art journal! Creative journals take many different forms, including dream and aspiration journals, travel journals, and pure creative inspiration journals. Each week will focus on learning a different art journalling technique, such as collage, stamping and stencilling, paper sewing and decorative script, as well as provide some journaling inspiration.

Wet Felting
Gerry Oliver
Use friction and compression on natural fibres to produce flat sheets of felted materials, an art in itself and also a component in fashion and fibre arts. All materials included. Please bring a lunch.
